Libros de Lectura.... School Readers

I already told you many times that my enthusiasm for children’s china led me to meet nursery rhymes, mostly english

 Tres ratones ciegos

and in my quest for old children's books I rediscovered school readers

The active pupil
y sus imágenes y textos me atraparon...

and their texts and pictures caught me…

Yes, starting by those lovely covers

and also the end papers

and of course… soon they have begun gathering

For those of you that are younger I telll you that these were books that pupils used to read during all the school grade and they had lessons of history

Simplicity and Austerity

San Martín and his granddaughter

The Rosette
buenas enseñanzas

good habits

Cleanliness

The meek fountain
las letras, el abecedario

letters, the alphabet

nunca faltaba alguna página dedicada a las queridas maestras

always a page dedicated to the beloved teachers

My Teacher

familias muy organizadas con las tareas

very organized families

What do we do? Mam washes, cooks, irons, cleans. Dad works, on Mondays and holidays gardens. Granny sews, knits. Granpa reads and takes a walk. My brothers study. And I? I play, draw and write. And we are all happy

alumnos muy aplicados con tinta y tintero

very good students with ink and ink pot

The inkblots

and some obedient kids so ashamed to sit at the table with unwashed hands ...

What a shame!

and those nice texts where a word or syllable was replaced by a drawing, do you remember?

I should continue showing so many beautiful images but I don't want to bore you, so for now I leave singing the anthem with these little children

Argentine Anthem

Espero que les haya gustado.
Hasta la próxima!

I hope you liked it.
See you soon!

  12. Three Blind Mice is the very first nursery rhyme I learned when we first moved to Canada a very long time ago! The farmers wife and her knife scared me very much! I don't think I could buy that mug! I love the books and the graphics!

  13. ¡Maravillosos libros!
